I recently launched my new book, Pot Luck: Random Acts of Cooking. Here's what I know about 2023.
Rhubarb season is here, and I am planning two rhubarb events in May and June! On Thursday, May 25, at 1:30 p.m., I will talk all things rhubarb on Zoom for folks in Leonia, New Jersey, courtesy of the Leonia Public Library and Senior Center. I will also serve up some rhubarb treats at the Williams Bookstore in Williamstown, Massachusetts, on Saturday, June 10, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
I will talk about my Pot Luck (and any other books and topics that come up!) and serve nibbles at Bartleby's Books in Wilmington, Vermont, on Friday, July 7, at 6 p.m. A lovely shop in a lovely town.
I will meet with the Cookbook Club at the Southwick (MA) Public Library on Tuesday, August 22, at 6:30 p.m. to chat and eat food from my books.
And I will put in an appearance at the Season Kickoff at Apex Orchards in Shelburne, Massachusetts, on Sunday, August 27. Actually, I'll put in two appearances. I'll cook something yummy with apples from my cookbooks at 11 a.m. and then help judge an apple cooking contest at 1 p.m. Join us if you're in the neighborhood!

Speaking of singing, Jerry Noble and I performed a morning(!) concert recently at the
Federated Church on Route 2 in Charlemont. This event was sponsored by the Charlemont Senior Center and the Charlemont-Hawley Arts Council. We'll return to the same spot on Saturday, July 29, at 5 p.m.--although that concert won't be free. It's a fundraiser for Mohawk Trail Concerts.
I love to speak to women’s clubs, libraries, senior centers, book clubs, and other groups. I also enjoy cooking and talking on television and on the radio.
I cook on Mass Appeal, a Western Massachusetts lifestyle program from time to time. (You can see me below with co-hosts Alanna Flood and Danny New.) I'm not going into the studio very often right now, but I send in videos to be aired every few weeks.
One librarian wrote in a thank-you note, “You had such a rapport with the audience it felt as though we all knew you.”
My favorite topics are the ways in which food can connect us to others through memory and the life lessons one can learn from cooking and caregiving. I also conduct recipe-writing workshops and organize evenings of group cooking. I'm articulate and funny (if not modest!), and I can always sing in a pinch!

In the spring of 2018 I talked about RHUBARB (natch!) with Carrie Healy. Of course, we had to do a little baking. And in I stop by from time to time to record a commentary or two, including a remembrance of my grandmother's favorite soup.

It was an amazing program that Tinky Weisblat offered to our community about care-giving in general and about caring for family members with dementia, in particular.... Tinky read from her new book, Pulling Taffy: A Year with Dementia and Other Adventures. It is a year-long journal of family memories and daily stories about caring for Tinky’s mother, Jan (Taffy), in her apartment in Virginia near Tinky’s brother, and here in her home in Hawley. The book is loving and humorous and informative all at once. Others who came to the program shared their own experiences, and I realized how this is such an understated story.... Thank you, Tinky, for bringing the challenges of care-giving to our attention.
